Ah, if only evolution would go ahead and get the job done before the planet either implodes or explodes. I'm not holding my breath. (Intelligent design is clearly a dead-end, unless we find a way to use our intelligence better and short-circuit the meandering dallying of natural selection). They just announced the new geologic epoch beginning in 1950, the Anthropocene. It doesn't look promising, alas.
