On Friday, Popular Information reported that Real Change PAC, a purportedly “progressive” super PAC spending millions attacking Democrats from the left, was linked to House Republicans.
Because it is not legislation but the name of a SCOTUS case that is not so easy. Definitely doesn’t happen until the GOP is not in charge of any branch of gov’t.
There are so many things wrong with Citizens United, not the least of which is that degenerates who used to have be tv preachers or mafiosos now have lucrative careers running grifts that are entirely legal.
Why am I not surprised? Of course, this all makes sense in our Alice in Wonderland world. Excuse me while I leave this post and go beat my head against the wall.

Judd, your investigative journalistic reporting is amazing. I have wanted to mention something to you for a long time, and it's kind of hooked into this "dirty tricks" thing, though not directly... I am so sick and tired of bragadocious folks claiming the "high" stock market is proof our economy is doing great. I would like to know the percentage of our population that actually HAS stock investments at a high amount... AND I also am suspicious that whenecver the market takes a dip, Trump finds some "encouraging words" statement and his HUGE corporate supporters are able to adjust the markets by manipulating their shares - I"m not sure how it works to "buy back" shares or how it would be done but...I think it's something worth looking into. AND Definitely to speak out about the "misconception" that the market is a good way to judge our status as a nation of PEOPLE. Thank you again for all you are doing.
The Republicans are so desperate and fearful of losing that they resort to this loathsome and mendacious trickery in order to win elections. Just another example of their base and dishonest behavior following the lead of their dear leader. While shocking, it is not surprising. If money = "free" speech (citizen's united created this equation ) than the 1% who have most of the money also own most of the "free" speech. This is just the supreme court's way of telling the 99% to shut up and let the oligarchs do all the talking. All of the outside money that comes from people or corporations that are not eligible to vote for a candidate are bribes that will influence a congressional representative to represent the money over the people who elected them.
SCOTUS married 2 previous rulings in the Citizens United decision. It gives the big shots who run corporations the opportunity to act & donate as individuals & as corporations. The rest of us are merely the little people acting as individuals.
• Money = Speech — “Buckley v. Valeo (1976): The Supreme Court ruled that spending money is essential to communicating political ideas in a modern society. The Court concluded that placing limits on campaign expenditures placed an unconstitutional "direct and substantial restraint" on free speech”
• Corporations are People — Romney’s infamous quote “corporations are people too” didn’t come out of nowhere. It came from English Common Law and dates back to the Romans.
“Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad (1886): A pivotal Supreme Court case where the Court reporter noted in the headnotes (not the written decision itself) that the Fourteenth Amendment's equal protection clause extends to corporations. This established the precedent that corporations are "persons" under the Constitution” [Also the legal vehicle for Hobby Lobby’s case where it successfully appealed mandatory insurance coverage for contraception.]
True citizens united was just the final nail in the coffin that buried democracy. Gilens and Page: Average citizens have little impact on public policy. Princeton University; 2014 showed that congress was owned by big money and it has just gotten worse in the last 12 years.
Since the servile six on this no longer Supreme Court see fit to reverse previous decisions whenever they care to do so (or Leonard Leo tells them to do so), they can blessedly well reverse "citizens united" at will before it turns around and bites them in their backsides (which is coming ever closer).
If we don't stop these idiots from trying to turn every aspect of the government into just another way of increasing their own wealth, they will accomplish a financial crash that will destroy their wealth (because it destroys our entire economy).
The people playing these B.S. games don't want anything or anyone to stand in the way of their getting everything thy want, but if they are successful, it will destroy them. We need to do whatever it takes to protect these fools from themselves (which will also protect the rest of us).
