As I understand this, to add insult to injury, the Save Argentina from Itself solution also includes buying their beef. While US cattle ranchers deal with drought and screwworms and their own government undercutting their industry, the real screw worms in DC, gathered on the front Panera porch formerly known as the rose garden, plan more demolition of the US economy (just a few hundred feet away from the actual demolition of the East Wing of the people’s house) as the very program that can buy this beef, SNAP, runs out November 1. Trump continues to dump a pile of shit (not just AI generated) at our doorsteps each morning. The only way out is through and the only way through is together.

The beef farmers, Meriwether Farms in particular, lined up for this and STILL support rump while crying that buying beef from Argentina will destroy them. Oh well!!

Because, because, because Trump will pay the off the ranchers, and the soybean farmers as well. They won't lose money. But their soybeans will rot in the silo. And their prices will plummet next year as China dangles a lower price in their faces. (China is paying below market price for Argentine soybeans right now.) American farmers, their back against the wall, can't not sell at any price, and they will lose lots of money. But the short term photo op of Trump and Bessent (uh-uh-uh) handing out checks to the farmers will look like relief to our farmers, and it will be reported as such by our complicit mainstream media. It's what the farmers use on their fields: it's bullshit.

This adds to a long list of actions demonstrating that the Trump regime has no interest in governing, in leadership, nor in working FOR the American people. It is all about power, self-aggrandizement, and Funds-With-Friends. So obviously said "Friends" will continue to bluster and manipulate so their exploitation of American taxpayers can continue.

This bailout will have little benefit to Americans, except for Bessent's billionaire buddies and Trump himself. You can be sure that most, if not all, of the $40B will flow directly back into their pockets.

It’s worth mentioning here that the entire budget of USAID — which we were told was eliminated in the name of “government efficiency” — was only about $22 billion. So we’re giving more than that entire budget to prop up Trump’s right wing buddies and greedy rich investors.

We used to teach the Teapot Dome scandal as a bunch of selfish lying out-of-control millionaires ignoring law with their grasping greedy hands caught in the till. Boy, their grift seems middle school compared with these guys. Bessent (uh-uh-uh) et al are emboldened by Trump. Trump has a history of stealing, cheating, grasping, yelling and intimidation of anyone who crosses him. In business that meant he destroyed companies when he withheld payments that drove their livelihoods into the ground, not to mention besmirching the good name of those vendors who lost their reputations and their businesses. Bessent (uh-uh-uh) the wimp stands behind the bully and giggles when strong people are relieved of their lunch money. Bessent (uh-uh-uh) needs to know his day of reckoning is coming. They are all sitting on top of the world right now, but history and its long arc will whip them back into their place.

People in office and running for office really need to be made more aware of this corruption, especially in light of the fact that millions of Americans are paying more for everything - and will be losing their health insurance in a few short months.

Thank you for this! International monetary policy is out of my field. I can smell grift, graft and corruption tho. Now I sort of get the process, too —. And a much more tangible grasp of the purpose and the monumental risks and costs. Our only protection is the hope of a blue wave, IF we can freely vote by 2026…

Unless his economic policies are a complete 180 from his failed business practices.

Thanks for this reporting, Judd. I had heard about the additional 20 billion and wondered where it was coming from. It is shocking that the banks would back this and even more shocking that they expect we the taxpayers to make good on their inevitable losses. I am careful with my money and would never put it into such a risky venture.

Can we make it clear to those banks that the U.S. taxpayers will make sure that they DO NOT get that money back if they so recklessly put it into Argentina.
