Absolutely shocking that these tentative detention centers, on top of being an emblem of a cruel Trump presidency, would be poorly thought-out as well. This administration is so detail-oriented. *dies of sarcasm*

Can you think of any well planned project of this administration other than lining their pockets?

I've said this before: Trump is a Russian asset whose assignment is to weaken/destroy American and the West...and he's doing a superb job

Joseph Mangano's avatar

I can't think of one, no.

The due diligence of ice is comparable to the due diligence of the Republican parties over the years. It appears the Republicans are short-sighted when it comes to long-term planning. Who knew not keeping utilities up and Roads paved would be a problem later on.

Okay, so here is what I don't get about the detention facilities.

What do they even need them for? And why do they think they need to be so large?

Immigrant over-population is a temporary problem (I'm not saying we have one, but this administration seems to think so); their edict seems to be, round 'em up and ship 'em out. Right? And so given that, what do they need so much space for? When have they ever had that many people awaiting deporation in custody at one time? I mean, we are talking hundreds of thousands of beds. And in a year or two, after they have ejected everyone they have deemed unworthy to live in America. What will they do with them, then? House the homeless?

I think they have plans to round up all minorities (whether they are citizens or not), protesters and any other folks they don’t like. These are concentration camps being built with our tax dollars. Pepper your members of congress with messages of outrage about this!

Yes! And if the government had just let them stay in their own homes, there would be no cost to ICE. And five years down the line when/if a “deportation hearing” shows that the individuals need to leave (or not), then would be the time to act.

Right now, ICE is violating so many laws and rules of moral conduct, that I don’t know how anyone would support their actions.

They will provide yuge PROFITS for the kingz men and his hangerz-on. This is the next invest opportunity.

Duh! They need them to pay off the billionaire owners of the detention centers.

Thank you for highlighting the continued destructive nature of an out of control ICE. ICE is much like trump; just wing it and let the people suffer. If they are stopped at one facility, like trump, they will simply move on to another facility and cause chaos. ICE, again as is trump, has no forethought, no planning, no considerations, no competence, no decency and no regard for the people it imparts. Both trump and ICE are deadly, out of control, and violent and incompetent. A recipe for disaster that will have long term harmful effects on local communities, the nation and the world. I only hope usually spineless dems, if they ever regain control of govt, hold the trumpemberg trials and hold these soulless, barbaric, dolts accountable for their heinous actions.

This is a valid argument against opening any more of these illegal facilities.

JenneJ's avatar

I don't think any of them have opened, yet.

Excellent reporting and excellent use by local authorities of existing structure to end the abomination of these warehouses as detention facilities. Again, the six words that best describe the Queens real estate mob boss sundowning as President and his selfempretzeling sycophants:

Planning is hard. Chaos is easy.

Excellent reporting. Thank you.

And given the quality of “care” in current detention facilities, why would any community believe that housing detainees in their community would be a good thing?

ICE's brand is cruelty and they literally don't know s---t‼️

Muckledger's avatar

Almost as if there was a plan, it was to skip the costly detention part and go directly to the gas chambers/crematorium phase.

Judd, has left no details out here. Keep the light shining Judd! Maybe 60 minutes ; the only true News on CBS, will pick this reporting up.

Joseph…Absolutely loved :

“ dies of sarcasm “. Which also brings up another point …

It’s amazing such a low IQ orange person could seat in the front row of the Supreme Court hearing yesterday.

Just saying…

An “administrative state” would have performed the studies, evaluated water and sewage systems of any proposed siting of a place where thousands of people would reside for a period of time, but the ideology of this regime is opposed to the administrative state, so……

Those warehouses are a boondoggle, on the public dime.

And doubt any community was asked if they wanted to join the Buchenwald class….

Nell Thomas's avatar

The rapid build of warehouse type facilities, just before Trump was inaugurated was highlighted by some journalists, pointing out the irony that if housing can co-op this quickly, we should not have a housing shortage. It depends what your motivations are.

The warnings were all there. People just did not want to believe. People still don't want to believe. What we need is a lot more courage to speak up, get angry, get active. Every citizen needs to lock arms and say no.
