Thank you so much for your lasar focus on the travesty which has been taking place in my state since our current governor assumed power after having overseen his own election as Secretary of State. Isn't it coincidental that this new law which he signed behind closed doors, in the presence of all white men, in front of a painting of one of the most brutal plantations in Georgia, eliminates the possibility of any current or future Secretary of State to oversee any Georgia election AND actually be an ethical arbiter of non-existent voting fraud? I continue to be appalled that in this state, home to MLK Jr., and especially the late John Lewis, that this current GOP controlled state legislature and "governor" have the audacity to be so blatantly racist. This new law will dramatically affect the financial well-being of the state and corporations who are headquartered here, not to mention the film industry. The majority Georgia's voters oppose this legislation, but are painted with the broad brush of being as racist as this law is long. All 93 pages. It's 202. Boy oh boy is the 2022 election cycle where this shameful governor is seeking re-election, where Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock is up for the full six year term, and the midterm elections offering the opportunity to replace all like-minded US congresspeople is going to be LIT!

Of course it is Jim Crow. He is Gov of GA, He is the GOP. He is in 42 other state legislatures. I am reasonably sure the GA Sec'y of State who had the guts to stand up to Trump has been effectively neutered politically. My daughter lived in Savannah four years and pretty much the white folk there were the most racist I ever came across in this country, so it is unsurprising to me they have fought back. The population centers vs rural America is going to become a more stark problem. The state legislatures are mostly GOP. The population centers can flex muscle nationally, but on the interior of a state, everyone has the same representatives often gerrymandered districts. Until the hearts and minds of the rural state interiors get changed, this is going to be a real mean politics. Here in VA, we have population Centers in NoVA, Tidewater and Richmond and Roanoke that vote liberal blue and they carry the state legislature. But not in the rural areas. Our ste voting map shows some gobs of blue in the population centers and the bulk of the state is red. West of Charlottesville and in parts of Southside, it's mean Trump Red. His signs are still everywhere, folks. There is even talk of SWVA joining WVA. I fear we will see more of this thought other places. The Hearts and Minds of much of rural America believe Trump was their hero. They watch Fox, OAN and NewsMax and they don't read. Sadly they won't read truth like we see here on Popular Information. Good to see Judd makes it in national news print media, but newspapers are shrinking. I would love to see him invited to a national TV discussion. That would expand the reader base.

Keep at Judd. The Truth is Out There and you bring it.

Brian Kemp can say what he likes, but the pig is still a pig underneath the lipstick.

Good to see the pressure on the companies continuing, too.

What's happening now in Georgia is indeed Jim Crow 2.0. I would submit that if the new Georgia voting legislation in not overturned at a federal level, the state just made sure that there will never be another Democrat elected to statewide office there ever again. But, for now the legislation will go to the courts...........which are filled with Mango Menace appointees, including three on the Supreme Court. And Georgia is only the beginning. If the Democrats in the Senate (the House having already passed a new Voting Rights Act) don’t act decisively and soon, this will be repeated in every southern state, as well as Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Arizona.

P.S. Not going to be buying any Coca Cola products for a while. Ditto using UPS, Delta (not that I'm flying anywhere right, to be honest) or any other Georgia-based companies.

I am desperately hoping that the Senate can find a way to approve the voting rights act when it comes before it. If not, it's not gonna be pretty here in the Mitten... Republicans in our legislature are already devising ways to do an end run around our brave Governor Whitmer. Without her, you'd see similar disgusting legislation quickly become "law" here.

They don't even try to hide their racism and disdain for Democracy. It's really astounding that news networks won't call this what it really is, authoritarian behavior and I would even argue traitorous. Why is there not a Fox news for the left? Call these monsters what they really are 24/7 and then maybe some of these so called "centrists" would be swayed by truths and realize the evil GOP is trying to suppress votes and cheat to win. This is incredibly unamerican and overtly racist. To arrest Rep. Cannon and charge her with two felonies is beyond the pale. I cannot stand the lunacy on the right...

Another angle to pursue might be all the movies and TV shows that are produced in GA because of generous tax incentives. Seems like those folks could put their money where their mouths are and threaten to walk. Maybe if someone was to write about which networks or large production companies use GA, that would create an additional vector of pressure on the legislature if money and jobs were going to leave the state?
