Cruz, Kennedy, Graham, et al, are all hateful, supremacist, intellectual midget bigots and their attacks on Mangi indicates yet more GOP projection of where predominately pseudo Christians are today. They exactly illustrate how humans of all religions can deform religious intent into power-seeking, subjugating, nonsense, simply based on hatred of 'others' rather than peace, love, or understanding. The outright slandering of Mangi over his religion ignores the meaning of freedom in America, whatever the hell that is these days.

What a brilliant and wise man Adeel Mangi shows himself to be when crassly questioned by the embarrassing likes of Cruz, Kennedy, Lee, and Graham. Mangi proves that he's above these Republican trash talkers. I would hope that the remaining intelligent Republican Senators will vote in Mangi's favor. We'll be rooting for him thanks to your wonderful article.

I love the way you describe the man AND the way Adeel forcefully and professionally pushed back hard against the magat-tropes.

Who are these Democratic senators who would vote "no" on Mangi's confirmation? It's no wonder they don't want to put a name to their vote ahead of time. Theirs is a craven, cowardly position.

The craven grovel at the feet of the master. Who may that be? Follow the money.

If the ADL backs the man, these mopes haven't got a legitimate gripe at all, they're just looking for "political cover."

Why is anyone assuming that Democrats in the Senate would not vote to approve Mangi? Just because Dark Money and the Senate Schmendricks (Hawley, Cruz, Graham, Lee, Kennedy, Scott...???) are doing their ignorant best to cast aspersions where we know none belong, let us not accuse anyone or any group until there's a reason to do so. I am looking for Republican Senators such as Cassidy and Lankford to vote in favor of Mangi.

Who are these D senators? Sounds like they need a reminder of who they work for.

BTW- an anti-semite wouldn't last a NY minute as a leader of a Rutgers organization. If Dems cave on this, attacks on future nominees will only intensify

Qualified for serving on the bench and much more so than Cannon for instance.

When you look at recent events with SCOTUS, we have so much worse sitting in the highest court. One who takes trips with a billionaire and doesn't report it and has a wife involved in Jan. 6.

Yet same GOP is unconcerned and doesn't see the need for an investigation

3 of those same SCOTUS when asked about Roe v Wade during their Supreme Court nominations in front of Congress said they would support it. Look how that turned out. They profess Christianity. "Thou shall not lie" means nothing to the GOP. Regarding religion.

The Constitution states

"Each to the dictates of his own conscience."

Except if the GOP judiciary committee deems it necessary to make it a qualification. And feckless Dems jump on the wagon with them.

All persons need to held accountable for their lies and unethical behavior. Period. Until we have an effective and timely mechanism employing personally meaningful fines and penalties to deal with this type of smear propaganda, it will and does continue. The extremist Republicans are not ashamed of their behavior and with no accountability it becomes a normalized behavior.... this continues to disgraces our government and our country.

Trumps defamation penalty of 80+MM should have stopped him...but no. It is going to take jail time and greater fines and restrictions to shut the man up.

Most agree that it is ridiculous that this situation exists. without facts, truth and trust...we are no longer living in a civilized environment...more third world at this point in time.

It's a quick a solution but would probably get some people upset. I would favor something in line with banishing him to live consecutive months for 20 years with many of his more ardent supporters, without funding, so that they can really get an in the face, first hand, realistic view of what they are supporting?

Better to put trump in an isolation cell and he can eat the off color food the Arizona republican sheriff liked to give criminals. Guantanamo can be converted into 250sq ft “apartments” for the rest. No wi-fi or social media sites available, there are toilets to be cleaned. 😂
