This week, Donald Trump has been pushing an unhinged conspiracy alleging, without a shred of evidence, that Joe Biden ordered the murder of two dozen Navy SEALs.
I think “yawning” is a mischaracterization. Legitimate media outlets gave the conspiracy theory, and Trump’s apparent endorsement of it, as much coverage as they deserve. People who need to hear an alternative, reasoned analysis will never read or listen to legitimate media, so they would not be exposed to the coverage, and the story, itself, doesn’t deserve more attention or dissemination. As I read your coverage, I thought “couldn’t the Navy seals debunk this?”, and then they did. So thank you for that. But don’t criticize other media for not covering a story that doesn’t deserve coverage.
Lest anyone conclude that I exaggerate about conservatives’ willingness to hear other viewpoints, the other day I was talking to one of my conservative friends, who was complaining about his high income tax burdens. I quipped that he should switch to Trump’s accountants because they obviously know how to avoid that problem. He had no idea what I was talking about. When I told him the NYT had Trump’s tax returns and had published an expose, he laughed at the bogus NYT.
Too many people in this country do not understand the difference between legitimate journalism, with multiple sources and fact-checking, and biased coverage that eschews accuracy for sensationalism. Once again, so many of our problems can be traced back to inadequacies in our education system and our failure to instill critical thinking skills.
QAnon frightens me, they don't deal with any facts, of course, neither does Trump.
Just since 2017, their group, for lack of a better word, has gained worldwide notoriety through the internet, mainly social media. Even my own intelligent 40yr old son sends me texts of QAnon conspiracy stories. It doesn't matter which link I send him of the facts, he replies, those are left-leaning sites. Smh How do two "left-leaning" parents raise a Trump voter and QAnon believer? My son, who I was very close to, doesn't speak to me now.
I wish someone could expose who Q is, and Judd, I think you're the man for that job.
All Trump supporters have these days is conspiracy theories because their candidate predictably responded poorly to COVID (besides, you know, not preparing the country for it) and is losing by a sizable margin in most national polls. Political discourse that already was substandard has gotten all the worse.
Every damn day, I wake up to a new Obama-Biden conspiracy. It's strange and unsettling the depths that this president's followers will go to in order to keep their cult leader in office.
We really need better mental health care in this country.
Call "Bat Shit Crazy." How people believe this crap. Why @Jack allows Trump to tweet this garbage is even more ridiculous. I would be in Twitmo if I tweeted this kinda stuff.

Stories like this one are so disheartening. Essentially, "conservatives" will believe pretty much anything that trashes the "other side".
Meanwhile, #Mangowanker has utterly ignored calls to comment on Russians making payments to Taliban to kill American soldiers.
