It appears that these corporations do know how to speak out of both sides of their mouths now, don’t they? How is it that the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing? Is it possible they are just telling us what we want to hear? Oh, get me the smelling salts, I think I’m going to faint from the shock.

As always, Judd, thanks for the reporting on the duplicity that is part and parcel of the American ethos.

I was gonna write the same thing, but Sarcastic Prophet you say it so well! These corporations have no morals, it’s all about the money.

Anschutz's position that it didn't know about RAGA's solicitation after Roe v. Wade was overturned seems highly dubious. Even if that's true, though, they still have donated to pro-Republican and anti-LGBTQ groups/organizations before. They're not an ally.

Thank you Judd.

Not defending these corporations, but principles are not their concern. The contributions they make are are protection money paid for favorable tax and regulatory policy. They just follow the money.

The Shield Laws are a response of the trigger laws enacted by conservative states. Alos note how the "small" government "states" rights people are very happy making the government larger and taking away states rights to align with their Christian Nationalists Handmaid's Tale vision of America.

Precisely. Understanding these people made evil by their indifference to the pain and suffering they underwrite!

I agree that corporations pay protection money, that these donations are not based on principles. However, I don't see how paying AGs would influence taxes and regulations, since attorney generals are not part of thr legislative branch. It's an interesting question to ask what benefits accrue by making regular donations to RAGA.

It's pay-to-play. Today's GOP Attorneys General are tomorrow's GOP Senators and Governors.

Why doesn't the GOP just cut to the chase and declare the Democrat Party to be illegal; and make voting "D" in an election a misdemeanor?

I am running out of companies to use. Every time I carefully choose one that seems like it’s on the right side of democracy and human rights, I then find out that they’re fully onboard with taking away our rights and autocracy. All these awful companies bought up all the other companies so now we have almost no choices and they are onboard with fascism. Where are the good guys??!!!

Long before Trump, but certainly accelerating, we are seeing the GOP use the tools of government for mob shakedowns.

Companies donate to RAGA to avoid prosecution by Republican prosecutors. I believe it is rarely about the RAGA stance on any policy. Just like the mob, once you make insurance payments, you can never stop. If DoorDash suddenly broke with RAGA, they'd likely be immediately investigated.

You do great work, Judd, and have long focused on RAGA. But, ideally you could find a whistleblower in a company that ties RAGA contributions to favorable treatment. Perhaps that would break through.

(Or given Trump's daily and highly visible corruption, maybe it won't even be considered news)

Clearly our "Citizens United" enshrinement of corporations' unfettered opportunity to purchase political sway as a means to support their business opportunities is a deal with the devil.

As much as I believe in the power of the people, there is just no way to fight all these companies, they are now in the DNA of the social political economic system. Yes, boycott as much as you want but those of us following Judd's hard work are still a minority. I shouldn't be despairing and upset -- but I am.

‘Despairing and upset’. Yes, these are rational responses to the irrational, careless, contemptuous and cruel actions we are dealing with daily. I hear you. Remember the only way out of all this crap is through, and the only way through is together. Peace.

Thank you, Judd et al. The corporate hypocrisy goes far enough to be labeled conspiracy. I come from the generation of back-alley abortions, and anyone who has been through that experience with a loved one can never justify the suffering that RAGA’s agenda proposes.

Wherever there's a lobby like RAGA, oil billionaire Anschutz will be found.. What does he stand to win by association? Protection. Favors. He tries to come off as modest. NOT.

He has Supreme Court "Justice" Gorsuch in his hip pocket.

Here's one of many accounts that refer to their partnership

Hey friends, I'm sure many of you have participated in boycotts to help pressure corporations to change their practices. This podcast describes a multi-pronged strategic campaign in Michigan to influence both the utility company DTE and health insurance company BCBS to stop funding politicians who were enacting voter suppression laws. I encourage all of us to get more education about effective grassroots campaigns to promote democracy. If you don't have Apple, you can access this podcast on other platforms.
