I don't find these donation pieces to be helpful when the general purpose donations are highlighted. There are many reasons for a company to donate to a politician in our plutocracy. Highlighting one and trying to make the association between the company and the issue via the politician receiving funds is at best tenuous, at worst, an irresponsible report that lacks context of total donations to all politicians during that time (to determine party preference) and total donations received by politician (to determine size of that company's ownership share/capture).
There is no such thing as a political donation to a politician for a specific purpose. When a company donates, it helps that politician get elected and advance his or her total agenda.
