This is really upsetting. Where are my rights as a consumer? I’m paying for a product or a service, not to fund an anti democratic agenda that further limits my rights as a citizen or a consumer especially when these companies are limiting my choices with the assistance of those in government. So how do I choose an internet provider between AT&T and Comcast? Do I pick the lesser of two evils?

Exactly! In many cases, boycotting "them" would hurt ME more than they!

Like you and others commenting in this thread, I have been frustrated by the lack of choice as a consumer. It is no accident that there are so few businesses to choose from. Political policies from both parties, if more from Republicans, have stacked the deck against small businesses which in my community tend toward niche offerings. Small eateries come and go, but Olive Garden thrives and has been here for years.

What are Americans to do if elected officials do not reform voting and election finance laws? It appears democeacy is doomed?!?

I like how UPS' response is basically a concession that they are doing what is best for their bottom line. It's also rich that they spin their "engagement" with these politicians as a positive. Engaging with election deniers does not mean you have to fund them.

Joseph. But obviously only money talks in this corporate hell we live in!

It is corporate hell. The system of governance here is broken. Our institutions didn't hold and it's because of all the monetary corruption & corrupt people in elected office that are more concerned with power than public service. Corporations have lobbied, rolled back protections, had legislation written to benefit their interests & have hijacked the SCOTUS to be a rubber stamp to rule in their favor 98% of the time. Or is it 99% of the time? I forget.

The founders implemented a good system. But it required people to act in good faith. They never could've intended it to be like this. The US is now a hyper-capitalist state. The middle class is eroding from almost 50 years of wage stagnation & hyperinflation. None of this is sustainable. We either demand better & force some changes or this is headed toward a collapse I fear. And I fear even more what rise up from the ruins or what other country might take our place as a global superpower.

You said something quite profound in my opinion Maureen. "The founders implemented a good system. But it required people to act in good faith."

Indeed they did, but participants must act in good faith. Agreed. We are now seeing/experiencing a historic level of persons in positions of importance, influence, control or authority, all acting in extremely bad faith, almost as though in concert. They are not only breaking the system, but will break the whole world if left unchecked.

These are the guys in the fairy tales that killed the goose for the eggs. All of them.

Mr.Tedford comment expresses some of my sentiment. I also would like to write some of these CEOs to complain about putting me in a double bind,as a user of services and maybe some share holders of small (or large)amount would like to send to CEO their thoughts. Is there a list of addresses, emails etc. Some of us remember working to defund apartheid S.Africa by pressuring universities and companies to not support shares in these places. Nothing like financial pressure.

Good idea. Also, I post a link to this on the Facebook pages of the major corporate sinners. Just think if everyone did this. https://popular.info/?r=4ti8v&utm_campaign=pub&utm_medium=web

Hope it gets picked up nationally. Great reporting. I hope it makes an impact but for the subscribers, this isn't a surprise. These corporations lie all the time and did so again after Jan 6th. They're going to do whatever they want to do and we're going to keep consuming their products because we need them. Nothing is going to change in the way of political spending and these PACs.

Thanks Judd. Duplicity in the corporate world - who would’ve thunk!?!

Wow. The National Association of Realtors has their industry by the neck. Pretty sure every agent has to pay dues to them thru their brokerages.

Interesting that money has not done much for the rank and file. Most of these contributions do not reflect how the worker bee feels. It's the fat cats in 1% at the top of these corps and organizations that benefit greatly from the lining of pockets

AT&T CEO John Stankey. What an appropriate name.

And he has lived up to what his name sounds like. He has wrecked AT&T. [I wonder if he's on drugs]

More of the same old crap. Say one thing and do another.

Please stop calling them election deniers. That’s way too both-sidesy.

Call them what they are: Election Liars.

Also, Corporations are not people. “Hey, AT&T, show me your belly button. Oh! Don’t have one? Then you are not a person”. That was easy.

This report reveals the standard for corporate spending and for MAGA politicians’ turnabout on their views. Following January 6, many Republican MOCs and corporations spoke out on their dim view of the assault and Trump’s complicity. But all who wish to remain in power and bend government to their will have back-pedaled, letting their own horror and disgust be put aside because Trump has such a large and active base of voters that they need. This is now the world we live in.

I can appreciate the work involved in tracking all this information and reporting on it, but it is basically the same thing we’ve seen again and again, and there’s not a thing we can do about it. Unless we have legislation to overturn Citizens United, we’ll continue on the same loop of corruption.

Lets not forget citizens united and what that did for this kind of political giving. We need to repeal this mis-guided way the R can get away with funding with no backlash. This flunks out our ability to control spending and put the power into these companies pockets. The comments I am reading here are spot on, I don't want to be funding these nut jobs anymore. It need to be stopped in Congress, but I am not holding my breath.

"Don't pay attention to that man behind the curtain!"

Corporations are Not People but their minions behind their curtains are. This perversity is codified through codified bribery. Stop thinking the Corporation is responsible for its actions and call out the minions making the decisions.

So sick and tired that the corporations and politicians are in bed together all nice and cozy. Your information is invaluable so thank you.

This issue must be addressed and rectified! Enough is enough.

But just proves: money talks. BROKEN SYSTEM
