Corporations are hedging their bets hoping they can survive should the MAGA State take over the US. Corporations have no soul either. They are driven by the Milton Friedman view of all that matters is making money.
Recently, I listened to what Anthropologist Wade Davis had to say about the US on Amarpour & Co. He was discussing his essay, called “The Unraveling of America” published in Rolling Stone and this was some of what he had to say:
“In a dark season of pestilence, COVID has reduced to tatters the illusion of American exceptionalism. At the height of the crisis, with more than 2,000 dying each day, Americans found themselves members of a failed state, ruled by a dysfunctional and incompetent government largely responsible for death rates that added a tragic coda to America’s claim to supremacy in the world.”
Disinformation today is a terrible thing. It is what led to the catastrophe of COVID in this Country. I am interested to read Richard Hasen’s “Cheap Speech: How Disinformation Poisons Our Politics- and How to Cure It” because I understand that he has some ideas about how to counter disinformation on social media.
I find forums like Popular Information and Timothy Snyder’s “Thinking About…” to be helpful in pointing out the land mines of disinformation that are being laid for us in the US and in the world.

This is the reality of the US today. And headlines today point to 100 GOP members of the legislature still continuing to embrace “The Big Lie”. They claim they represent their base but you wonder what responsibilities THEY should have representing their constituents since some of them know the truth. I have to correct one thing: the 100 legislative people I mentioned that embrace Trump’s Big Lie have won their primaries.
