If/when the Republicans retake the House in November, expect impeachment hearings against Biden to begin as soon as the new House members are sworn in. There will then be impeachment after impeachment as the Republicans "get even" with the Democrats for the fact that the Orange Asscactus was impeached twice. The feckless, despicable Kevin McCarthy will lead the charge. Bank on it.

Meaning even more tax dollars wasted without improving the lives of the American people. And wasted years of typical Republican do-nothing, no plans, inaction while the country crumbles.

This is why we Dems have to GOTV as never before. Let's get to work!

We can hope that McCarthy will blow it and the position will be usurped by someone else. But man is McCarthy working hard to be the one! And those who are more devious and clever than he might find him to be the perfect dupe in that position: willing to compromise himself at any cost.

I personally think that if the 2023 Republican House decides to try and put Joe Biden "on trial" as it were it could be a good thing. It would make a stark contrast between Donald Trump's cohorts and their cowardly refusal to appear when Biden answers the subpoena and the Republican panel throws asinine questions at him that he calmly responds to with actual answers. On the other hand Hillary Clinton wasn't exactly helped by the Benghazi hearings she sat for, but she was already viewed as corrupt by that point, and nobody really believes the same about Biden.

Could be. I just wish more people cared about facts and truthfulness. Or that those who do would be noisier than the conspiracy-minded folks. Unfortunately and unfairly, Hillary had a target on her back from day one. Their willingness to attack her and the unwillingness of some voters (even some I know) to vote for a woman for president landed us in this... is hell too strong a word?

I disagree. And I wish no one would refer to a '2023 House' as if it is a given. It is NOT.

My intention wasn't to claim the House in 2023 would definitely be controlled by Republicans, only to say what I think would happen if the 2023 House was Republican. I do believe the trends suggest a red wave this November, namely an American public pissed off that gas costs too much, but I know nothing is certain.

It is so disheartening that we can’t avoid companies that donate to the insurrectionists. Want a cell phone service? Help an insurrectionist. Want insurance? Help an insurrectionist. Want good prices with convenience? How about a much-needed vacation? Have we got insurrection donors for you! My god.

In Jon Karl's interview, McCarthy sounds a lot like the apparently inebriated Rudi Guiliani. We must do all we can to keep this tool from becoming Speaker!

the "Official Election Defense Fund" ... And the ordinary people who are fleeced complain loudly about how they can't afford to buy whatever they want. Well, don't send your hard earned cash to grifters. And don't let your state spend your tax dollars pursuing already disproven conspiracy theories. Two easy ways to improve your life. There are plenty of others.

Kevin McCarthy is an expert on using House investigations to discredit political rivals. He was openly gleeful about the effectiveness of his Benghazi investigations against Hillary Clinton.

The J6 committee handed a class action to MAGA donors. Maybe someone will use it, but that would mean invalidating a strong belief system and identity.

I started to write a comment about what we need to do to fix this problem, & then deleted it. Congress would need to make new laws, & that can not/will not happen as things stand today. Those that are reading your reporting know what needs to be done, & are doing their best to work toward those changes. Maybe if we get enough folks voting & engaged, it will make a positive difference. I hope so.

Corporations are hedging their bets hoping they can survive should the MAGA State take over the US. Corporations have no soul either. They are driven by the Milton Friedman view of all that matters is making money.

Recently, I listened to what Anthropologist Wade Davis had to say about the US on Amarpour & Co. He was discussing his essay, called “The Unraveling of America” published in Rolling Stone and this was some of what he had to say:

“In a dark season of pestilence, COVID has reduced to tatters the illusion of American exceptionalism. At the height of the crisis, with more than 2,000 dying each day, Americans found themselves members of a failed state, ruled by a dysfunctional and incompetent government largely responsible for death rates that added a tragic coda to America’s claim to supremacy in the world.”

This is the reality of the US today. And headlines today point to 100 GOP members of the legislature still continuing to embrace “The Big Lie”. They claim they represent their base but you wonder what responsibilities THEY should have representing their constituents since some of them know the truth. Here’s the article.: https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/political-commentary/covid-19-end-of-american-era-wade-davis-1038206/amp/

Disinformation today is a terrible thing. It is what led to the catastrophe of COVID in this Country. I am interested to read Richard Hasen’s “Cheap Speech: How Disinformation Poisons Our Politics- and How to Cure It” because I understand that he has some ideas about how to counter disinformation on social media.

I find forums like Popular Information and Timothy Snyder’s “Thinking About…” to be helpful in pointing out the land mines of disinformation that are being laid for us in the US and in the world.

I have to correct one thing: the 100 legislative people I mentioned that embrace Trump’s Big Lie have won their primaries.

So many lies, so much illegal activity. There is a way to stop this. Punish the criminals with extensively long prison terms. Do we want to get rid if this dangerous Christian-Fascist-Sedition Party or not? It’s hard to tell! No one who incited (domestic or otherwise)terrorists to kill Capital police and citizens of this country, should be wandering around holding rallies. We want actions. Not a slap on the wrist like the ringleaders of Jan 6 got! 6 months probation!!! Outrageous.

The Jan 6 committee findings are the only sanity to tune in to so far. It better lead to serious consequences. Get Giuliani in the psych ward where he belongs.

Zoe Lofgren did a superb job putting forth the evidence against TFG - from the pushback of his "advisors" to the Million$ filling his "war chest" - that is his OWN pockets and those who are culpable. "Follow the Money"

And coming soon to a theatre near you "The Drunk and the Psychopath" with a cast of Thousands of Enablers and Dupes. And an environmental lawyer/wannabe AG who was told "we'll call you when there's an oil spill" - kudos to Jeff Rosen!

How is this man not in prison? A lifelong con-artist who continues to lie and rip people off. The original snake-oil salesman. And that interviewer missed a huge moment with McCarthy. Why not mention the fraud Meadows committed? Registered to a trailer that he never lived in? Lets talk about the real fraud committed by the right to STEAL the election. Just like that obese orange booger stole classified documents. What ever happened with that? He's too stupid to know the law so he gets to skate around it? That's got to be the most ridiculous defense I've ever heard. But it somehow worked for 4 years when he stole the 2016 election with the help of Russia. He's too dumb to know the law so we can't prosecute him for breaking it. Weird how that doesn't work with anyone else...

You would have to be drunk out of your mind to take ANY member of ‘team trump’ seriously. Watching some of his rats try to jump the ship now is bemusing. Somebody wake me up when the ringleading clowns ae crying behind iron bars.

I think the tile should have been "Drunk Nancy and Paul Pelosi" and the mysterious expunged DUI change... that Fox News is investigating. But I digress.

If misleading donors as to where their funds would go and be used for is a crime, the entire Democrat fund-raising industry is in very big trouble. Democrats are really getting desperate to create a negative news narrative and cycle out of whole cloth. It isn't working.

I think you should slow down for a few minutes. Proofread, fact check. Try to stay focused. The article isn't about Pelosi. TFG is a criminal and you must know this. You are a willing accessory to the destruction of our form of government. Try to open your mind to the cleansing sunshine of fact and let go of denial. You'll be a better person for your efforts.

It is amazing to get advice to slow down and process real facts and information from those that just repeat the corporate media narrative and DNC talking points.

Well, whatever your point is, it has nothing to do with the article and is mere projection based on nothing more than a desire to believe a particular narrative. You're not blind and you're not dumb. However, you are on the wrong side of history. Your beloved Faux News is not news but entertainment product and much of the time is fact-free. Surely you must have suspected this?

He paid 50 bucks to subscribe? and come in here and try to gaslight us. He is an example of the Dupees.

We are a reasonable group and aware of the difference between Repub speak and the truth.

As usual he like MAGA in general, cast aspersians on "The Democrats" and what they spend with no facts to back up his mumbo jumbo. It is blind allegiance to the GOP party line. No thought just like Lemmings rushing off the cliff or more truthful like brown shirts running to Hitler in 1936

Indeed. Agreed. All fair points and you've stated your case quite well. Bravo!

I can't stand it when these miscreants wander over and try to pee and poop on everything.

I am compelled to engage them and at least push back a little. Maybe open a chink in their programming, or at least push back against their tired and dishonest BS.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply, ranglecat. I know that historically the Dems are poised to lose the House in Nov, and I take your point that you were opining about what might happen IF GOP takes the House. It seems that with the Jan. 6th hearings, the focus on guns/shootings and the death or Roe, this may not be a usual year. It's up to us not to give up because of red-wave predictions and to GOTV like never before.
