Good morning All,

Let's work our way through this.

1). A child is raped. Introducedd to sexual activity in a most traumatic manner.

2). A child who has been raped becomes pregnant adding to the psychological trauma.

3). The raped, now pregnant child suffers physical trauma as her body prepares itself to give birth.

After the child has given birth what happens next?

Is there assistance for a CHILD who is now responsible for another child?

Question: who are the real groomers?

Question: The right to WHOSE life?

This is a tragic situation. The GOP is the party of forced birth, no more-no less. This isn’t about saving the innocent. This is about controlling women and relegating them to permanent second-class status.

Controlling is what today's "Republicans" ARE, far, far, far from what Republicans used to be and like to pretend they still are.

The majority of Republicans support abortion rights for the first trimester and in cases of rape and incest.

Question: Should abortion be legal when a woman's life is threatened? 87% Reps say yes, 92% of Dems say yes.

Question: Should abortion be legal in the case of rape? 75% Reps say yes. 91% of Dems say yes.

So the Louisiana Republicans are way out of mainstream views of Republicans. My thinking is that Democrats have so infuriated the Republican electorate that the politicians are throwing the Republican electorate red meat to chew on. Owning the libs is more important than is actually supported policies. While I understand this given the Democrat terrible political behavior over the last several election cycles, I it is stupid for the Republicans because the Democrats can only win with enough female rage vote.

Expand full comment

This is rather backwards :"Democrats have so infuriated the republicanelectorate"

Really?

Nope, it's actually the other way round.

But you actually want to blame democrats for republican's hubris. Hahaha! Typical RW victimhood.

Well the Republicans are pissed at being called racist, ignorant, a basket of irredeemable deplorables, fascists, etc. They are also pissed at the Democrats so being part of the globalist corpopratist cabal that is systematically destroying American working class economic opportunity. They are pissed at what Democrats did during the pandemic. They are pissed a there being a two-tiered justice system where the Democrat judges and DAs abuse their position and power for politics. They are pissed at all the ballot shenanigans that Democrats perpetrated in the 2020 election. They are pissed at Bidenomics that has caused inflation and high interest rates. They are pissed at the woke BS and cancel culture. They are pissed at the corporate media having become a political power supporting Democrats and opposing Republicans. They are pissed that Joe Biden is supporting a radical left agenda after running as a moderate.

Democrats are pissed at Republicans because they, the Democrats, are not in absolute power and control to rule the world and only Republicans stand in their way.

The good news for Democrat is that the Republicans in some states keep pushing a Handmaiden’s Tale goal with abortion. Females and girly men make up the Democrat Party and they are pissed at Republicans for the minority of them attempting to make abortion illegal.

Indeed. They want to save all of the "theoretical-babies" and ignore the real ones! Cruelty/Stupidity/Hypocrisy/Banality/Criminality all in one big ole stinky ball!

I cannot imagine an 8 year old female body prepared to give birth. Compare the hips the pelvis of an 8 year old to the same in a 20 year old, or 18 year old. The possibility of that child ever having another child is greatly lessened due to the trauma to the body and just as importantly to the mind.

This ruling will NEVER do what these legislators want; to add white babies to the population which is becoming a non-white majority.

Indeed Lauren. How can anyone act with such evil intent? That is what it is and as you say, the poor child (should she survive even) will be scarred for life and possibly not able to bear any other children. Should the first be stillborn well, that's chalked up to "God's Will."

The ugliest aspect (in my opinion) is that of the so-called christian woman who is all in favor of this medieval form of torment designed to punish women for being women.

In a sense it is torture to the child. Makes me so mad I want to punch something.

Actually Lauren, I'd like to punch some somebodies! Got me a list of prominent RW'z in me pocket right chere!

Would Louisiana Lawmakers respond to businesses and doctors leaving the state? To tourists saying Not Louisiana? To college age students saying Not Louisiana? I know I’m saying Not Louisiana. I understand innocent people suffer. But it’s all I can do from afar. And vote up and down the ticket for dems and against pro forced birth candidates. DON’T FALL FOR PRO LIFE PROPAGANDA. These politicians will follow TFG into creating a ChristoFascist, rich get richer, middle class get poor, poor get poorer, anti climate change country. #VoteBlue

I am voting in the manner that you suggest. These folken cannot be allowed to win.

Answer to your first ? is no, at least in the case of doctors: they are leaving Idaho in droves. The Legislature doesn't give a rap.

🤬 it’s not sustainable.

I wish someone would start a non for profit to help people move out, who can’t afford, to but want to.

Judd, where are the AMA and ACOG on these issues? Why aren't they -- and other physician professional associations -- standing up for their patients, best practices in medicine and their own safety? This seems like a glaring omission when legislators and judges/justices are clearly practicing medicine without a license. Could you research and report for us? Thank you.

Expand full comment

Doctors have consistently testified against these draconian laws to no avail.

These decisions are disconnected from medicine and are driven by the Republican legislators’ imperative to control the lives of women.

I am struggling to find the words. Truly terrifying.

I already read elsewhere that states with high abortion restrictions are losing access as people graduating from medical schools are choosing to make residencies in states that don't restrict abortions such as found in Louisiana. It's not a coincidence that Louisiana has a shortage of needed doctors but it's going to get worse now.

Of course the unwitting Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, would be from a state with laws about women that would endanger their lives under a false "Louisiana Right to Life" rather than truly protect women's rights to choose to live a viable life. And, of course, Louisiana is already "among the U.S. states with the lowest number of employed obstetricians and gynecologists (OB-GYNs) in the country with the majority of its parishes having less than two per 100,000 residents." So, life in Louisiana is being determined by those who have no medical training that includes experience with women and reproductive issues. It is those who have a deep fear of death who are ignorantly endangering lives.

My father used to say as much bad was done in the name of Jesus as there was good. Right here it is. A 13 year old rape victim clutching a Teddy Bear giving birth is a harsh abd terrible reality of Louisiana. "Moses" Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House is a horrifying sight and harsh reality of Louisiana in Washington. He is a man of those same beliefs in line to become president if a catastrophe happened. Dystopian Society is Louisiana.

I love the idea of “a viable life.” Having endured complex developmental trauma (neglect, abuse) and sexual exploitation, I’ve thought a lot about what it takes to create a life worth living.

ARE THERE A NUMBER OF PEDOPHILES MASQUERADING AS LOUISIANA LEGISLATORS?

The Catholic Church in Louisiana is one of the major driving forces preventing women from deciding their own reproductive plans. I’m wondering what part of that came from the sex trafficking Catholic Church out of New Orleans? Just got to keep that supply coming?

While you're thinking about it, think about what happened to Roe v. Wade; then count the # of R. Catholics on the Supreme Court.

Yup, the good old Bible belt. These people been voting for Republicans for 50 years and look what kind of a mess they’re in now. Of course, it doesn’t help that Trump stacked the Supreme Court with a bunch of religious fanatics that don’t give two shits about people at all. They are drunk on power and need to start honoring our Constitution.

Words fail when insanity and hubris prevail. One wonders if all that we are currently witnessing is the final flare out of a failed evolutionary experiment, bringing to a close the last of the hominid species.

This is a moment of clarity. People in southern states, including Louisiana, who vote Republican by rote, must connect the dots from their vote to the laws that have been enacted against the will of the people by these same Republicans. The message must be pounded home - these laws are NOT about protecting the life of the fetus; they are about control of women, as well as the doctors who are compelled by the Hippocratic oath to provide the necessary care to maintain the health of their patient. Republicans are relentless in their quest to end a woman's right to choose. Abortion rights groups must be equally relentless.

If 70-plus percent of the population disagree with this agenda, how do they keep getting re-elected????

Many of the electorate have been brainwashed into mindlessly voting for whatever candidate has an “R” next to their names.

Blame the propaganda of churches and far right news outlets like Fox News.

And ignorance: there are Republicans legislators who oppose the removal of an ectopic pregnancy because they know absolutely nothing about women’s anatomy, biology or science.

Unless and until we can break the hold the Republicans have on their traditional voters, these types of backward thinking Neanderthals will continue to win elections in red states.

Louisiana, Alabama, Arizona - all are heartless, cruel and misinformed on abortion. Once again, white men setting back women's healthcare - in many cases girls - to prove their disgusting power over them. Utter disregard, contempt for women.

Thank you for this report. I recognize this could be national law. If Trump wins, Project 2025 adopted, and our politicized Supreme Court on board. This could be every state in America.

Women politicians supporting this absolute ban like those mentioned in this article are mind boggling.
