Her lawsuit is so needed right now. Thank you for sharing this very brave teacher's account. Is there anything we can do to support her effort to prevail?

If you find that someone establishes a crowdfunding effort to raise money for Ms Cahall to pay her legal expenses and loss of pay, please post a link, as I would definitely like to help out.

Thanks for the info. I just donated. This teacher should be supported. (And that superintendent should be replaced.)

Thank you Ms Cahall for teaching ALL children to respect each other. Thank you for your bravery and for your very savvy law suit. Thank you for encouraging your students to read. And thank you for standing up to your bigoted and small-minded principal.

Bravo, Ms. Cahall. The nation needs every courageous person speaking up, right now. Everywhere. Courage is contagious

I’m grateful to Ms. Cahall for not obeying in advance and for asserting her legal rights. I hope Judd will keep us up to date on the lawsuit. There is a lot of helplessness out there right now, but this is part of how we eventually win: by standing up in our daily lives for truth, inclusion, and compassion. Win or lose, push back on bigotry and intolerance.

When the author of the article wrote of a ghost story with a gay character, I just assumed it was a reference to Caspar, whose kindness and empathy has stayed with me over many decades…….

Thank you Pi for bringing this to our attention. I certainly hadn't heard about this in the MSM.

Also looking for a go fund me or other support link.

I tend to see things on a pendulum - the far right gets to be on top for a while then the pendulum swings down and back to the left and so on.

This issue of stripping people of their constitutional rights (and in some cases, stripping us all of our constitutional rights), will not abide. Cannot abide. This is not a pendulum, this is a circle and when a circle comes back around it hits with a force. The LGBTQ community is not the enforcer in this case, we are (we being all of us, not just LGBTQ). We are riding this un-American wave of censorship and violation of rights and oh boy, if America means anything, if the past 250 years is to abide, then this will come screaming into the faces and lives of those who would strip rights of people who are "different." As my mom would say, go fuck yourselves.

You go, Ms Cahall. I was a NYC teacher who fought the machine and always won because I was always right, that is, I was not wrong. You are not wrong.

Next they'll bring back "stoning" and think it's an "appropriate" punishment. What a bunch of ignorant Assholes.

Bravo to Cahill for fighting this. I would love to contribute to her legal fund, if there was a way. We need to support everyone fighting these battles.

So happy that she has made the choice to sue the district. It's so easy to just deal with the suspension and go about your life. Concerns about loosing your job or status in the community prevent a lot of people from standing up.
