On March 28, the CARES Act — emergency legislation to blunt the impact of the pandemic — was signed into law. The package provided the Treasury Department with a $500 billion fund to stabilize the economy. The money would be routed through the Federal Reserve to support trillions in lending to corporations and state and local governments. Seven weeks later, very little of the money has been spent.
Americans need to vote in November to give majority control of the Senate to the Democrats, keep the majority in the House, & elect a Democratic President. Democrats are not by any means perfect, but would be a vast improvement over what is in office now. Our Country will not survive if the Republicans remain in office.
Well said. I am to the left of Pelosi and her leadership who still seem afraid of Reagan's shadow and who are beholden to the donor class. As more of an FDR-New Deal liberal I am regarded as a far left wacko by the Clinton-Obama Dems still in control of the party, both locally and nationally, and the campaign committees. That said, I'm voting blue no matter who.
Bob and Jean, we’re all going to have to put our dreams on hold I fear because IF we can pull this country of dreams and hopes out of the RWNJ’s jaws, we will be a broke, terribly hollowed out country full of a polarized citizenry. Those of us who have had to stand by and watch the systematic dismantling of our Constitution, our government are going to have to make the conscious decision to, once again, put some of our dreams and desires aside and try to put ourselves back together. That isn’t to say we forget them but in order to get there, we have to remember how we ever got to this point where a thing such as trump would ever get elected in the first place. Right now, we are so far out of balance that regaining equilibrium will have to come first. There will need to be justice as well. The perpetrators of this coup will have to be fully investigated and hopefully imprisoned if found guilty. Our legislative bodies will have to actually have to find a way to put their petty differences aside and find it within themselves to care more for their country than their own self interests. I hope we have learned that those who we send to to our state houses and to Washington to represent us are will really be responsive to us, the voter, and not some big-bucks beast of a corporation. Lastly, I hope we have learned that an involved citizenry is what will truly make our hopes and dreams become, for the most part, real. We have all got to do our part to keep ourselves intact, involved and inviolate.
You are seeing the way I see it. My fear long before this Pandemic, was that one big hit on the economy is going to cause the divide between the 1% and the rest of us to become a chasm. It would leave the ignorant followers of Trump subjected to their info sources blaming the wrong folks for what happened.
We have the setting for a perfect storm a weak Democratic candidate against our version of oligarchs trying to solidify power.
And I just read an article in the news this morning which said that 42% of the jobs lost in this Coronavirus-based depression. What's going now is simply beyond words at this point.

😸 I’m a bleeding-heart liberal myself, & hoped for a more progressive Presidential candidate, but it’s blue no matter who for me, too. 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊

God, Buddah, The Force be with us. us.
Me, too though I still shudder to think Joe Biden is the best we could do.

This is bad news about the CARES Act, isn't it?
