I feel for the people who voted against Ron DeSantis but are forced to put up with these shenanigans. He's truly repugnant.

Have they reviewed the Bible yet?

Honestly, what's the difference between these religious nuts and those in (for example) Iran or Afghanistan? Not much, I'd say.............

I’m not sure it was in Duval County, but an earlier piece from Judd discussed at least one school district where there was an active campaign to flood the book review process with demands to remove books that “indoctrinate”. I think it’s time for a campaign against books that show bias toward Caucasian families with married heterosexuals who live in the suburbs. Dad has a comfortable job at an office he goes to every day, mom is happy to stay at home and dedicate her life to running the household, biological son is a popular star athlete and biological daughter is popular, pretty and smart. It’s a legit fantasy, I guess, but I’m triggered just by writing it. Imagine the kids! Those books must go.

This is all such a waste of time, energy and resources—all because one man wants to be president.

Is this really “the will” of the people of Florida? If so my advice for parents is to get out of Florida.

Same thing is happening or starting to happen in Missouri. They're debating a version of Don't Say Gay that is more restrictive than Florida's. Some major light needs to be shed on the supermajority of fascists that have been running Missouri into the ground for the last 20 years.

There is a huge body of work that Death Santis would ban, including, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” “The Help,” “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee,” or any of the books by Elie Wiesel . . . I wonder if Florida children are allowed to read about pioneers of medicine who developed vaccines?

With a name like DiBias, she's GOT to be an expert.

Hemophobia is on the rise everywhere the far right and evangelicals roam. Florida is just the worst to show it so far. Makes me sick. I was a church youth director for years but left what I thought was an embracing denomination over it's standing in how it was going to change views on LBGQT pastors and whether they could serve to go along with the views of the African branch where being Gay could be a death sentence. Not my Jesus.

This woman is either one of the homophobs or she is so afraid to lose her job she has caved to pressure from above. Doesn't matter because they are interpreting laws so Florida can add hate to the curriculum of school children. DeSantis is an awful human being chasing power and wealth. We can only hope that he will never become president.

And here it is folks. Freedom! That vaunted quality of American life that all others envy around the globe. Ron is bringing it in like a fish on the line by George. Freedom. True Freedom. American style!

We seem to be going up the hill backwards, if the latest permutations from Florida are any indication.

I hope we'll be alright in the end. Normally I am an optimist. You know, I think I still am.

I read DeBias and thought you made up a new name for DeSantis!

Florida and all its De----- are truly debased, derogatory, detrimental and dislodged from the real world. Too bad they've got nothing better to do than "de-woke" the state. What a bunch of deadbeats.

What is incredible is the way they rate literature on a pure grammatical basis instead of complexity of idea the authors conveys to the reader (historical, cultural, socioeconomic context).

Rating dystopian classics below trash like Harry Potter is insanity IMHO

I guess you already know that CRT is not and has never been taught in any public schools. CRT is a course only offered in law school. Like I said before, willful ignorance.

The types of books that the Nazis wanted removed and burned were largely political, with ideologies opposed to Nazism, including books on race and sexuality. One of the first Nazi book burnings took place at a clinic that researched and performed gender confirmation surgery and housed a library of books on the subject.
