Look, the only country in the world where this type of horrific carnage happens with any regularity is the United States. And no, gun nuts, the solution is NOT more guns (that's the NRA's solution to everything, apparently). The solution is getting rid of assault weapons or other devices which allow regular rifles to be converted into semi-automatics. The solution is comprehensive, national background checks that would prevent anyone with a history of violence and/or mental illness from every buying a gun. And finally, the solution would include opening up gun manufacturers to civil liability for their flooding of this country with their weapons (yes, I am also aware that the Supreme Court has spoken on this issue, and with the current makeup of the Court, it will not change anytime soon. So, a constitutional amendment would be necessary, and that will never pass in the South or Western states).
